We have had an exciting morning as we had some visitors in school today. Sir Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour Party, Bridget Phillipson, Shadow Minister for Education and Jodie Gosling, Councillor for Arley & Whitacre Ward and prospective Labour parliamentary candidate came in to launch their General Election Childcare Plan.
They met with some parents to talk about the pre-school needs of the area and then popped into Early Years to see the fantastic work that happens every day. As ever, the children were delightful and were keen to show their craft skills.
As you are aware, schools are not political vehicles but Jodie supports local schools and we were delighted that she suggested Nursery Hill for the visit. It gave some of our parents a chance to share their views about Pre-School places and early education and for policymakers to see first-hand how amazing our younger children are.
As part of our PSHE curriculum, Year 4, 5 and 6 learn about democracy so it was a significant moment for them as they waved Sir Keir off after his morning with us.
